Safeguarding and Child Protection Training

Who is the Course/Module intended for?

Professionals who have responsibilities towards children on the Child Protection Register. Those who would participate in core groups and work with children and families while on the register.

What will the Course give you?

An introduction to the recent themes in safeguarding children, including Laming's Inquiry to Victoria Climbie, the Children Bill and the Bichard Report.
An introduction to some of the frameworks for assessing risk in the context of the Needs Assessment Framework.
And introduction to 'clinical' and 'actuarial' models of risk assessment, and an opportunity to apply these to case examples.

What will you be able to do at the end of the training?

Understand the importance of single and inter-agency findings raised in the Laming Report and the Bichard Report.
Demonstrate an understanding of the emerging themes from the Children's Bill.
Understand factors of resilience and vulnerability.
Apply models of risk assessment.
