Mental Health Recognition, Management and Child Protection
Who is the Course/Module intended for?
Staff who have lead responsibility in managing or working with children subject to Child Protection processes.
What will the Course give you?
- Assist in identifying the presence of mental ill health.
- An understanding of the child care professional's role in working with mental health issues.
- An understanding of the impact upon the child of mental ill health.
- An awareness of adult mental health and the impact on children including the concept of young carers.
- An understanding of the mental health multi-agency framework and how to work within it.
What will you be able to do at the end of the training?
- Recognise the existence of mental health factors.
- Understand the mental health multi-agency framework when working with service users.
- Know how the Mental Health Act and Care Programme approach impacts on families and joint working.
- Understand how to assess risk of parenting capacity in a mental health context.
- Understand the child care professional role in joint working and effecting change in the family.
- Understand mental health and ethnicity.
